Interest on tsunamis has grown incredibly after the big catastrophe of the Indian Ocean in 2004. Research in the field has correspondingly progressed, by refining the traditional investigation tools and by taking advantage of innovative techniques and contributions from interdisciplinary studies. This session provides a forum to present the last results in tsunami research embracing the assessment of tsunami sources (earthquakes and others), tsunami modelling (hindcast and forecast), computation of tsunami impact and analysis of associated risk. All contribution are welcome dealing with tsunamis in any ocean of the world, but special focus will be given to the Euro-Mediterranean region where tsunamis can be very destructive due to the intense development of the costal zone, and where tsunami sources are often located nearshore, implying that they may attack the coast in a very short time.
