Information - OS13 Time series observations at fixed points in the open ocean: Insights into the dynamics of our deep seas (co-listed in BG)
Event Information
There is a growing demand for sustained observations of the open ocean environment. Observations at fixed points (eulerian) are a key component of this endeavour and the network that has developed over the past 20 years is now integrated under the banner of OceanSITES. The goal of such observatories is not only to monitor the state of the oceans in a changing world but also to determine the processes that cause the ocean to be such a powerful force in the earth system. The techniques are rapidly developing to make such observations with high confidence, with high temporal resolution and over prolonged periods of time. This session will draw together diverse types of time series eulerian observations focusing particularly on the multidisciplinary. We encourage submissions relating to the various existing observatories and networks and those planned for the coming years.
