Information - IS28 - MPRG14/GD32/PS3.9 Magnetism and planetary dynamics (co-organized by MPRG, GD & PS)
Event Information
Terrestrial planetary magnetic fields are believed to be
generated in the metallic cores by planetary dynamo
actions. The study of intrinsic relations between the
internal magnetic field and the dynamics of a planet is
viewed as a cross-disciplinary effort to provide insights
on the formation, composition and evolution of a planet.
This session is aimed to papers discussing dynamo and
magnetic field models, planetary dynamo generation and
collapse, core-mantle thermal coupling and planetary
dynamo efficiency, control of core-mantle heat flow
pattern on magnetic field generation and influence of
mantle compositional layering and tectonic modes such as
one-plate tectonics and plate tectonics, on magnetic
fields.
